- Low slung punk rock scraping the bottom of the barrel to obtain its gritty, street-level sound describes Killing California's 10-track offering Goin' South. With nuances of Nashville Pussy, TSOL, The Bronx, and Black Flag rearing their heads throughout the course of tracks like "Underground Girl" and "New Bad News", the angst supplied by this unit drips with the heartfelt realism you can't get from what the mainstream passes off as punk today. Bringing it back to a more dangerous time when punk was exclusive , this quartet wastes no time to jack the joint up with its fangs bared and their fierce punk rock battle cries leading the onslaught. - This is traditional So-Cal punk. They cuss, they don’t wanna go to work, they like skulls, and they drive a classic 1960s hearse featuring a rebellious vanity license plate with the band name: Killing California. Most people don’t know this, but hearses can actually carry a good deal of band equipment, much more than one dead body’s worth. This band attacks your eardrums with a two-guitar assault and the raging screeds of vocalist Danny Craig. It’s all rock and the drumming is solid and consistent, keeping the fury on point. Look for them on tour in several states this spring and at SXSW (They’re playing at Plush on March 15th).

- Just reading the bands name and title, you know this has to be Punk or at least a
sub genre. The artwork is also amazing, it completely proves the album was made
to skank to, circle pit, and break something! With a sound that could be mistaken
for Rockabilly, Psychobilly, or even Horror Rock, Killing California is quickly
becoming one of my new favorite bands. Ever heard Calabrese, The Blue Suede
Bombers, or Mad Sin? This has a very distinctive sound that could be compared to
the fore-mentioned bands. What a great album. Song in A, Dagger Practice, and
New Bad News are right in your face from start to finish with hard, fast, rockin',
punk music. The lyrics are great with the generation of oi punx out there
nowadays, and its not too complicated for all the posers out there as well ;]. As a
matter of fact, I would like to thank every song on this cd as every single song is
amazing and is something I've been waiting to hear for a long while now. Finally a
band that's new that's come out and attempts multi-genre and actually has the
ability to pull it off! Its fantastic. Get the album, slick back or stand up your hair,
light up your cigarette, and hold on to your rocker girl, this album is for you. Enjoy! [Read More...]

- Killing California came out on stage without much fanfare, but as soon as they started playing the intensity was turned up to ten. Their sound is a mix of classic rockers like Motorhead with modern bands like Zeke and the Bronx. The band’s dynamic was perfect with everyone showing their talents but never overindulging. There was never a lull in the set and not much talking in between songs. Although they played a decent amount of songs, Killing California’s set went by fast. [Read More...]

- Killing California is back with a new 6-song EP and on it they do what they already did so well on their full-length “Goin’ South”… play kickass OC hardcore punk with additional rock n roll swagger that sounds as pissed off as a dude leaving a peepshow with his pockets empty and his balls blue.
Balls is something these guys definitely have because I don’t see any of those emo pussies cranking out angry and intense songs like “Blue Heron Bridge” and “Hombre En Negro”. If you’re a fan of The Bronx or Black Flag, don’t hesitate and pick this one up. Wake up people, it’s killing time!
